Hiatus

Orignally this was meant to be my nail lacquer creations blog but seeing as I'm too broke to buy the materials yet... I'm writing on here let anyone who passes by know that I have another nail blog which is dedicated to my nail arts and swatches. Check it out by clicking the link labeled "nailsbyjkl".

Creating Custom Polish

In order to create your own nail polish, you need the following:
  • Empty bottles to hold the nail polish.
  • Nail Polish Base. I've found that there are 2 different kinds from TKB Trading.
    • Luster base: suspension base made for suspending mica and pigments
    • Suspension base: suspension base for suspending glitter
  • Glitter/Mica (optional)
    • Glitter used in nail polish does not have to be cosmetic grade, it can be craft glitter, automotive metal flakes, even the glitter used for fishing lures because most glitter is all the same material, polyester though some have an aluminum core and some do not. Glass glitter cannot be used in polish nor can it be used for any other type of wearable medium. (as read from Polish & Pigments)
    • Mica is a pigmented powder that many cosmetic companies use in their beauty products
  • Stainless Steel beads. (you mostly always find these in the bottom of all nail polish bottles.)
Most Franken Kits include all these and you get them ranging from $20-$35 on Etsy or eBay. As for me I'm not a big fan of glitters so I'm going to try to get bottles, base, pigment and the beads.

I really want to make my own polishes one day but as of right now I don't have the funds to start my own small business. For those of you who do want to try it out though all you need are the materials above.
